Concrete Patios & Pool Decks in North Texas
A concrete patio or pool deck has to hold up to Texas summers, heavy furniture, and constant foot traffic — year after year. Pillars Concrete LLC builds outdoor living spaces that do exactly that, with finishes that look as good as they perform. Serving Gordon, Granbury, Weatherford, Stephenville, and surrounding areas.

Residential Patios
From a simple back-porch slab to a full outdoor living area with built-in fire pit surrounds and seating walls, we build residential patios that extend your home's usable space. We work with homeowners directly — no middleman — which means you get honest guidance on what will look good and last long in North Texas conditions.
Drainage is the detail most contractors skip. A patio that holds water against the foundation or collects after every rain isn't one you'll enjoy using. We slope every pour to move water away from the structure and toward a natural drain path.

Pool Decks
Pool decks are one of the most demanding concrete applications — they deal with constant moisture, chlorine splash, UV exposure, and barefoot traffic that demands a safe, non-slip surface. We build pool decks that handle all of it while still looking clean and finished.
Finish selection matters more around a pool than anywhere else. We'll walk you through salt finish, exposed aggregate, and broom options — explaining the real-world difference in texture, maintenance, and heat retention so you can make an informed choice.
Our Process
- 1
Design & Layout
We stake out the patio footprint, confirm drainage direction, and discuss finish options before forming begins. Getting the layout right is what makes the finished space look intentional.
- 2
Excavation & Base Prep
We dig to the right depth, compact the sub-base, and set a stable platform. Texas clay soil moves — a proper base keeps your patio from moving with it.
- 3
Forming & Slope
Patios must slope away from the house — typically 1/8 inch per foot minimum. Pool decks drain away from the water's edge. We set forms to achieve the right fall on every pour.
- 4
Reinforcement
Wire mesh or rebar goes in before the pour. Exterior flatwork is exposed to more thermal movement than interior slabs — reinforcement keeps it together through Texas summers and cold snaps.
- 5
Pour & Finish
We place and finish to your chosen texture — broom, salt finish, exposed aggregate, or the base for a stamped pattern. Finish work is where craftsmanship shows.
- 6
Sealing
For pool decks and decorative patios, we apply a quality sealer after curing. Sealer protects the surface from chlorine splash, UV, and staining — and brings out the color in decorative work.

Patio & Pool Deck FAQs
- How thick should a concrete patio be?
- Standard patios are 4 inches thick. Pool decks where heavier equipment or vehicles may cross should go to 5 inches. We match thickness to the expected use.
- What finish works best around a pool?
- Salt finish and exposed aggregate are the most popular around pools — both provide texture underfoot when wet without the roughness of a heavy broom. Stamped concrete with a sealer also works well.
- Can you pour a patio against an existing structure?
- Yes. We use an isolation joint where the new slab meets your house foundation or existing concrete to allow independent movement. This prevents cracking at the transition.
- How do I keep my patio from cracking?
- Control joints, proper reinforcement, a stable base, and a controlled cure all reduce the likelihood of visible cracking. No concrete is crack-proof, but well-built concrete cracks where you can't see it.
- Is concrete or pavers better for a patio?
- Concrete is lower maintenance, more structurally uniform, and better suited to heavy outdoor furniture and grills. Pavers offer more design flexibility but have more joints that can shift, grow weeds, or hold dirt.
- How long does a patio pour take?
- Most residential patios form and pour in a single day. Pool decks on larger properties may take two days. You can walk on it after 24 hours and place furniture after 7 days.
- Do you seal patios after pouring?
- We apply a curing compound immediately after finishing, which also acts as a light sealer. For decorative work or pool decks, we recommend a topical sealer at the 28-day mark.
